In Library Browsing - Guide for Patrons

The library is now open to our book browsers. No appointment is necessary, however browsing will only be permitted during the following times:

Monday-Thursday
1:30am-8:00pm

Here is what you need to know:

  • Masks are required.
  • Patrons will be asked to sanitize their hands upon entry.
  • A maximum of 2 patrons will be allowed to browse at any given time.
  • We expect our patrons to maintain proper social distancing.
  • Limit your visit to 20 mins.  


Patrons are permitted to handle the books, but we request that this be done minimally.  
Curbside pickup will continue to be available to anyone that wishes to use this service.

Computer Usage – Guide for Patrons

Public access to the internet is now available by appointment only. Call to book your spot. Times are available Monday to Thursday between 1:30am and 8:00pm

Here is what you need to know:

  • Masks are required.

  • Patrons will asked to sanitize their hands upon entry.

  • Your session is limited to 30 minutes.

  • Only one session per day, per user.


The Cricut Cutter is also available for public use. Booking can be made by phone at 705-752-2042. We will be booking in 1 hour time slots. A maximum of one session per day, per user is permitted.




Curbside Pickup – Guide for Patrons

 What types of material can I check out?

You can only request a book, magazine or DVD from our collection.

We will be enforcing the following borrowing limits:
Books/periodicals - 15 items
DVDs - 4 items and/or 1 TV series

Can I request an Inter-library loan?
We can make the request for you, but the participation by other libraries will vary. We can’t guarantee you’ll get your request.

How do I know what is available to borrow?
Visit our website at efpl.ca and to browse our online catalogue. Click on “Access the Catalogue”.  You can browse by category or use the Advanced Search feature.
You can also call, or email us directly to find out.

How do I request material?
If you are browsing the online catalogue you can place a “hold” on an available title. You’ll need to log in with your library card and PIN to be able to do this. If you don’t have this information, you’ll need contact your librarian.

You can also request material by telephone or email.

When can I pick up my material?

On shelf holds via online catalogue:
Patrons placing a hold via the online catalogue are responsible for checking the status of their material. When your hold is fulfilled the status of the hold will change to “Ready for Pick Up”.

Holds placed via email and telephone:
When your hold is fulfilled, the library will contact you to inform you it’s ready for pick-up.
Material will not be accessible overnight. If you miss the pickup times, you can come the following day.
Holds must be picked up within 4 days, after which time they will expire and move to the next person or back into the collection.

How do I pick up my material?
On your pick up day:
If you are able to, call the circulation desk (705-752-2042) before leaving, and we will check out your items and put them out on the counter to be picked up. This helps keep your visit short, as we have a limit on the number of patrons that can be in the library at once. 


Library to Car delivery
If you prefer to remain in your car, the staff will place your material in your trunk, back hatch or backseat.
If you are driving a truck, the staff will place it on your passenger seat.
Library to car delivery will only be available on weekdays.
 

Front Desk Pick up
When you enter the building, approach the circulation desk in front of the protective barrier. You can then request your material from the librarian.
The librarian will place pass it through the opening in the barrier.

Pick up times
Once patrons have received a confirmation notice from the librarian, material can be picked during our business hours.

How do I return material?
All material is to be returned in the drop box located at the library proper or at the Municipal Office at 390 Hwy 94 in Corbeil.

Please Note:
Curbside pick-up, staffing, telephone hours and other services may change at any time. Updates will be posted on our website and social media platforms as developments occur.

Returned materials will be cleaned and quarantined for 72 hours, before being place back into the collection.

Although we strive to sanitize and practice safe handling of materials, the East Ferris Public Library cannot guarantee the sanitization of library items. Please take your own precautions.

Patrons should be advised to wash hands before and after handling books and other items, avoid touching their face while reading and to avoid sneezing or coughing into items.

Patrons who are immunosuppressed or otherwise susceptible to COVID-19 should not take out items from the library.
